戲曲表演資訊

Traditional opera was introduced to Taiwan during the Qing dynasty. After its introduction, various performance troupes were established one after another, performing in different regions. It became a popular gathering place for people to enjoy shows together. However, as Taiwan's economy took off, theaters, cabarets, dance halls, and KTVs opened everywhere, significantly reducing the role of traditional opera as a popular leisure activity and impacting its market. As a result, in order to preserve traditional opera and promote the arts, the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts was established to specialize in cultivating talent in opera and sustaining its legacy. Currently, the primary mission of the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts is educational outreach and deepening its roots. It collaborates strategically with schools and communities to organize activities such as teacher training workshops, children's summer camps, club guidance, community performances, and demonstration lectures, making traditional opera more accessible and understandable to the public. These two-pronged arts education outreaches through both community and campus have been effective in introducing more people to the cultural and artistic value of traditional opera.

In conclusion, we believe that through the joint efforts of the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts and performance troupes, continuous innovation and adaptation, active outreach to communities and schools, and direct interaction with the public, a new generation of audiences will be cultivated. Additionally, performances are combined with art promotion and experiential activities. Through “performance appreciation” and “hands-on experiences”, an element of interactive fun is added, allowing everyone to naturally develop an appreciation and interest in traditional opera. Furthermore, after performances, performers often come down from the stage to interact with the audience, aiming to spark interest in appreciating opera and reviving it as a popular form of leisure and entertainment.
