The principal answered the questions with detailed explanations.

From the interview, we learned about the school’s support and promotion of traditional opera.
Answer: Opera art can create many values for students' growth. Learning opera can not only help students understand the historical background but also assist them in gaining a deeper understanding of traditional culture and enhancing their aesthetic ability and artistic connotation. In addition, the process of learning opera can stimulate students' creativity, whether in the aspects of performance, scriptwriting or design. Besides, some contents of many opera performances convey traditional values such as loyalty, filial piety, friendship, and justice. Through the learning of opera, students can understand the truth of life and establish correct values. Lastly, opera performances emphasize teamwork and communication. Therefore, if students participate in performances, they need to learn team communication and peer cooperation skills, which will be extremely helpful for their future studies or careers. As a result, opera art not only improves artistic literacy, but also helps students develop a variety of abilities and qualities.
Answer: Our school strongly supports the promotion of opera art and actively creates opportunities for students to learn opera art. Currently, we have or plan to promote opera culture into campus through the following methods:
(1)Holding opera performances and activities:Our school regularly holds student opera performances to allow students to showcase their learning achievements on stage and increase their interest and participation in opera. Our school also organizes cultural activities with opera as the theme, such as opera costume experiences, face painting, opera appreciation meetings, etc., so that students can understand the charm of opera from many aspects. In addition, our school invites professional opera groups to perform at the school, which enables students to watch high-quality opera performances and provides opportunities for communication and interaction. Our school invites professional opera actors or experts to provide guidance on the basic skills, singing, and posture of opera, so that students can receive professional teaching.
(2)Establishing opera-related courses and clubs:Our school plans to add opera courses to the art curriculum, so that students can not only appreciate opera, but also try to learn performances. Our school has established an opera club to enable students who are interested in opera to engage in long-term learning and participate in various opera performances and competitions.
(3)Providing off-campus learning and exchange opportunities:Students can go to off-campus professional opera theaters to watch performances, allowing them to experience the on-site atmosphere, enhance their interest and encourage them to participate in opera competitions or performances outside the school to enhance their performance skills and self-confidence.
Our school puts great emphasis on the promotion of opera art and hopes to bring students closer to traditional art and culture using various methods. Our school looks forward to working with more opera experts and groups to continue to inherit and develop opera culture on campus.
Answer: A school can integrate opera culture into its curriculum and activities, which enables students to gradually understand and appreciate traditional performing arts in the learning process. I believe a school can start from the following aspects:
(1)Integrating opera culture into the curriculum:Language courses: Through reading opera scripts and learning opera lines, students are able to deepen their understanding of traditional culture and enhance their language expression ability through role-playing.
(2)Music courses: Music courses allow students to learn the basic knowledge and characteristics of opera singing, tunes and musical instruments.
(3)Art Courses: Art Courses allow students to learn about the art design and painting of opera masks and understand the character traits and personalities represented by different colors and patterns.
(4)Social courses: Social courses introduce the developmental history, plot content and representative characters of opera, which enables students to understand the cultural background and significance of opera.
2.Establishing the performance club:Our school encourages students who are interested in opera to participate in the performance club to learn traditional opera performances and take part in performance activities inside and outside the school.
3.Using modern technology and innovative methods to promote opera:Our school uses short videos and digital learning, as well as AR/VR technology, to attract students' attention and allow them to experience virtual opera performances to increase their interest.
With these methods, our school can make opera culture take a deep root in the campus, which allows more students to feel the charm of opera in their learning and participation.
Answer: Our school does encounter some challenges during the promotion of opera culture, mainly including students’ lack of interest, limited opera resources, and shortage of teachers. However, our school However, our school can gradually overcome these challenges through some strategies, so that opera culture can be more easily accepted and loved by students.
(1)Students’ lack of interest:Current students are more exposed to modern entertainment such as pop music, movies, and animations, and may feel that traditional opera is "too old-fashioned" and "irrelevant to their lives," so they are less interested in traditional opera. Some students believe that the singing and language expression of opera are difficult to understand and lack motivation to learn. Therefore, in order to arouse students’ interest, a school can use modern technology, such as short videos, animations and VR/AR, to make opera more vivid and attractive to the younger generation. Moreover, a school should integrate opera with popular culture and try to adapt operas, such as combining modern stories with opera performances to make it easier for students to accept opera.
(2)Limited opera resources:A school may lack opera-related teaching materials, musical instruments, costumes, etc., which affects the development of opera education. Besides, a school also needs to have sufficient funds to support opera activities or invite experts to provide guidance. Consequently, to solve the problem of limited opera resources, a school can cooperate with local opera groups, cultural institutions and school drama departments or seek government or corporate sponsorship to provide professional resources to support the school's opera education.
(3)Shortage of teachers:At present, there are few teachers with professional knowledge of opera, and most teachers have limited knowledge of opera, making it difficult for them to provide professional opera teaching. Therefore, the way to solve the shortage of teachers is to hold opera teacher training courses, so that music, art, and language teachers can also have basic opera knowledge and integrate opera culture into their course teaching. Besides, the school cooperates with opera groups or professional actors and regularly invites experts to give lectures to help students learn opera performances. Lastly, it is necessary to encourage students who are interested in opera to study in depth and become opera teaching helpers in the school in the future, motivating more students to learn opera.
(4)Finding a balance between learning opera and academic studies:Some students and parents may worry that learning opera will affect their academic studies, which may result in a low willingness to participate in opera learning. As a result, the solution to the problem of balancing learning opera and academic studies is to integrate opera into the general curriculum: A school should teach opera culture through language, music and art courses instead of adding extra extracurricular burden to students.
Undoubtedly, a school will encounter some challenges during the promotion of opera culture. However, through integration with innovative teaching, resource integration, teacher training and subjects, opera culture can be integrated into students' learning and life.
Answer: Opera culture is a valuable traditional art. It not only carries rich historical and cultural connotations, but also cultivates students' aesthetic appreciation ability, musical aesthetics and teamwork spirit. Therefore, firstly, I truly hope that opera can be integrated into the school curriculum instead of just an extracurricular activity. By integrating opera with academic subjects, students can naturally be exposed to opera culture in their daily studies. Secondly, I hope to increase students’ interest and participation in opera and make them “willing to learn and happy to learn.” Thirdly, I believe it is necessary to strengthen teacher training and professional guidance, so that teachers who are interested in opera can have basic opera teaching ability. Lastly, it is necessary to encourage corporate support and community and family participation to jointly promote the inheritance of opera and create a better cultural atmosphere.
In conclusion, I hope that opera can be passed down in schools. Besides, through curriculum teaching, professional guidance and social support, I hope that more students can know and fall in love with opera. In this way, we can truly pass down the culture and allow opera to continue to shine in the future.
