GuoGuang Opera Company pursues change and newness to attract more students to watch the opera.

In 1996, the first national level opera group of Taiwan, National GuoGuang Opera Company, has established.The Company has firm mission of passing through the traditional cultural assets.In the past, Chinese opera has been splendid for a period of time; nevertheless, nowadays, traditional Chinese opera faced the impact of social change.Primarily, it was because elder audience gradually decayed, and it could not attract young generation to watch.When the Company facing the crisis, it decided to introduce new management system, such as directing and playwriting staff, music director, staging art staff, and marketing staff and so on, to carefully produce operas with innovative thoughts to make changes and constantly launched good operas that receive applauses. The Company not only stabilizes the development foundation of Chinese opera on Taiwan, but creates new artistic achievement for Chinese opera.

The company’s Chinese opera promotion activities received warm reactions.

Definitely, besides good play and good team, there have to be good audience. President Chen told us that it is uneasy to attract audience. Therefore, the Company with plans through art education and expanding art performing places, implemented teachers workshops, children’s summer camp, art expressway, and university on-campus program and other activities. In so doing, the Company began to go into campus and community, strengthen to community public performance and touring performance, not only fastened the original year-long audience, but also attracted many young audiences walking into the theater. By way of stable operation and gradual increasing the quality of opera art, the Company stepped out the sunset of Chinese opera, and created marvelous Chinese opera with Taiwanese flavor.
